The Missionary Sisters of Jesus and Mary trace their origins to a small community of women in 19th-century France, united by a profound devotion to the Blessed Mother and a burning desire to serve the poor. Their initial mission focused on providing education and healthcare to underserved rural populations, often in remote villages.
Over the decades, the Congregation expanded its reach, establishing missions across Europe and eventually to the Americas. Through periods of war and social upheaval, the Sisters remained steadfast, receiving ecclesiastical approval in 1888 and adapting their ministries to meet the evolving needs of God's people, always anchored in prayer.
Rooted in Eucharistic Adoration
Our founding Sisters, led by Mother Marie de la Croix, understood that true apostolic fruitfulness springs from deep contemplation. Their daily lives were marked by extended periods of Eucharistic Adoration, drawing strength and inspiration directly from Christ's presence in the Blessed Sacrament.
